Dr Paula Mitchell, BSc (Hons), PhD, MAPS
Paula is a registered psychologist with over 25 years’ experience specialising in sleep, fatigue and shift work. Paula is recognised as a leading expert in the fields of sleep and fatigue management, with a unique combination of scientific expertise, extensive fatigue risk management consulting and training experience, and clinical sleep disorders expertise. She has provided services to a wide range of corporate, government and community organisations, undertaken leading scientific research, and operated a clinical practice for individuals experiencing sleeping problems for 15 years.
Paula is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the Australasian Sleep Association, the Sleep Health Foundation and the Australian Institute of Health & Safety. Contact Paula at paula@fmssa.com.au
Associate Consultant
Dr Spencer Roberts is an Associate Consultant with FMSSA and completed his PhD at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. His research focuses on the impact of sleep on the physical and mental determinants of human performance. Spencer has an interest in developing strategies to improve sleep and fatigue management. Through his work, Spencer has acquired technical skills to monitor sleep and fatigue using wearable technologies, and has advised workers in occupational settings, including elite sporting organisations. He has published peer-reviewed papers in international journals, has presented his work at numerous international and national conferences, and has received several research awards.
Katelyn Hall
Associate Consultant / Technical Analyst
Katelyn is an Associate Consultant / Technical Analyst with FMSSA and is currently completing Post Graduate studies in Psychology at Monash University, Australia. This degree has enabled Katelyn insight into both the psychological and physiological processes behind causes, as well as implications of, fatigue. Katelyn’s working background has involved a role as a Training Coordinator, alongside the Health and Safety department, of a 24/7 international container terminal. This has involved managing fatigue risks, fatigue related incidents, training materials and high risk licencing for the terminal, and has inspired a passion for delivering fatigue management training for FMSSA.
Dr Stuart Baulk
Web, Digital and Training Designer
Dr Stuart Baulk is a Web and Graphic Designer with a PhD in psychology. His previous experience in research, teaching and consulting focused on fatigue risk management in road transport, rail and aviation. He has designed online and face-to-face training materials for a wide variety of clients in many different industries, and his work helps to educate and inform companies and their personnel about sleep and fatigue. Stuart also lectures in digital media at UniSA Online and runs his own business, Sleeping Bear building websites and online training platforms and helping companies to grow their online presence.
